Activity Description
In this activity, students will be working in groups to reach the same goal of keeping the beach ball from falling on the ground.
Students will be asked to line up in 4 groups of about 7 students
*Students will be asked to remember who their group members are*
The teacher will then pair 2 groups together & have them line up in around the large circle formed by a jump rope.
Each student will pick up & hold onto the jump rope using only 1 hand.
Students will have to keep the beach ball in the air without letting go of the jump rope, forcing them to work together & move together to keep the beach ball in the air.
*If the beach ball falls inside the circle, one student may pick it up & restart, if the beach ball falls outside the circle, the teacher will pick it up & restart for the group.*
There will be a different goal/variation in each round. (2mins each)
Round 1: Everyone in the group must touch the beach ball at least once.
Round 2: Everyone in the group must touch the beach ball at least once using their non-dominant hand.
Round 3: Everyone in the group must touch the beach ball at least once, “Soccer-Style”, using only their heads, feet, or knees. Thus leading up to the main activity.
*Students will be asked to restart if the beach ball falls or a student does not follow the current variation in each round*
